West Mobile Adult Outpatient Program is an outpatient methadone maintenance program designed for consumers who are dependent on opiates. The treatment goal is to stabilize the consumer by administering methadone, which prevents withdrawal symptoms and craving, and blocks the undesirable effect of illicit use of self-administered opioids. They also assure that counseling is congruent with plans of treatment and regulations. Services include but are not limited to supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, systemic therapy, behavior modification, skills training, and relapse prevention.
Nurses in an outpatient clinic are responsible for successful completion of the admission process, medication administration, regular communication with other clinical staff regarding the physical and mental status of the consumer, deescalating or resolving a crisis situation, and medication education for consumers and family members.
