Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Assesses the consumer’s interests and skill levels.
  • Plans and develops activities according to the consumer’s rehabilitation needs.
  • Implements planned activities.
  • Provides ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers.
  • Teaches consumers the necessary skills to maintain placement in less restrictive setting
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
  • Effectively collaborates with the treatment team members and outside sources in the delivery of day treatment services
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of adult specific competencies

 

Supervision and Consultation:

  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement
  • Actively works to enhance skills

 

Clinical Record Keeping:

  • Documents in a timely fashion per Alta Pointe policy
  • Documents appropriate, complete, and comprehensive educational and activity needs
  • Documents in a clear and concise manner, types of consumer problems, treatment goals addressed, services provided, and consumer progress
  • Documents legibly
  • Learns and utilizes Avatar to enter documentation of weekly Day Treatment notes

 

Courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors and co-workers

  • Treats consumers with care, dignity and compassion
  • Respects consumer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Is pleasant and cooperative with others
  • Assists consumers and visitors as needed

Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:

  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Actively participates in Alta Pointe committees as required.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs.
  • Follows Alta Pointe policies and procedures.
  • Attends appropriate in-services training and other workshops.
  • Provides transportation for consumers daily to and from day treatment 

Physical Requirements:

  • There is frequent to constant standing while organizing/stocking groceries.
  • Sitting is frequent by nature; however, extended sitting could be up to 1.5 hours for documentation and 1 hour for group time.
  • Walking various distances on grounds can be frequent and the furthest distance would be up to 300 feet.
  • Squatting/lunging frequently to stock/organize groceries/supplies in pantry and to retrieve pots/pans needed for cooking and to lift pans out of the oven.
  • Strong grasp is needed frequently to constantly handle groceries/supplies when lifting, and while cooking.
  • Fine Manipulation for writing and handling paperwork.
  • Pushing/pulling force 5 pounds force (horizontal) to open standing freezer doors to access groceries.
  • Lifting various ranges from the floor to overhead with weights up to 5-15 pounds frequently, 30-40 pounds from the floor to 48 inches to stock groceries/supplies occasionally, 50 pounds from floor to waist 1-2 times per day.
  • There may be times when mopping, sweeping, making beds, washing/drying clothes for consumers may be done.
  • Any other duties that are assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge in adult specialty, outlined below, to be attained within (6) six months of employment:

  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practices.
  • Knowledge of Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles
  • Knowledge of available community resources
  • Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to adults with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders
