Primary Job Functions:
General Laboratory Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses (including but not limited to urine drug screens, pregnancy tests, blood work) using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments
- Receive or collect, as well as process, samples
- Calculate test results, and log and report results in Avatar and Athena
- Perform quality control and calibrate equipment if necessary
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area
- Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
- Monitor lab supplies and order new supplies as needed
- Ensure that all logs, including refrigerator logs, are being monitored and reported appropriately
- Keep up with stock medications and vaccines and ensure that proper logs are kept, as well as making sure any expired medications/vaccines are disposed or properly and are not kept in the lab past the expiration date
Supervision and Consultation:
- Seek clinical supervision and consultation needs
- Accept and employ suggestions for improvement
- Actively works to enhance clinical skills
Clinical Record Keeping:
- Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy
- Documentation shows that forms, notes, logs, and other applicable written information are completed promptly, accurately and updated when appropriate
- Document legibly
Courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors and co-workers
- Treats consumers with care, dignity and respect
- Respect consumer’s privacy and confidentiality
- Is pleasant and cooperative with others
- Assist consumers and visitors as needed

Administrative and Other related duties as Assigned:
- Actively participate in Performance Improvement activities
- Actively participate in AltaPointe committees as required
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Access appropriate community resources according to consumer needs
- Follow AltaPointe Policy & Procedures
- Maintain current State certifcation requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), and attends to required in-services and workshops
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, continuously bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and lift at least 10 pounds. Must have visual acuity in at least one eye and manual dexterity.
- There is frequent standing while getting files, paperwork, and handing out medication.
- Sitting is frequent by nature and up to 5-10 minutes; however, extended sitting could be up to 1.5 to 3 hours for documentation.
- Squatting and/or lunging frequently to stock supplies and retrieve needed material from file cabinets and book shelves.
- Fine manipulation for writing, handling paperwork, and dispensing medications to consumers.
- Pushing and/or pulling force up to 1-5 pounds force, horizontally, to open file cabinets and place binders on book shelves.
- Lifting various ranges from the floor to overhead with weights up to 1-5 pounds frequently.
