Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions:

 

Supervises Operations:

  • Assures that program standards and objectives are met
  • Leads program planning, development and implementation
  • Monitors program budget
  • Monitors caseloads and productivity of staff
  • Ensures that staff provides quality services
  • Effectively collaborates with other AltaPointe program coordinators and outside sources
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation
  • Evaluates consumers for discharge planning
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent/adult specific competencies
  • Completes treatment plan reviews as assigned

 

Administers appropriate personnel functions:

  • Interviews and screens applicants when necessary and completes appropriate forms as outlined by Personnel Policy and Procedures
  • Provides training in the general orientation of the facility, policies and procedures, program operations and specific skill areas
  • Is knowledgeable and applies personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis
  • Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on program staff and routes to Personnel Department on a timely basis
  • Promotes concept of treatment teams. Acts as a member of treatment team
  • Provides positive and effective leadership
  • Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed, individually or through group staff meetings
  • Ensures competence of staff 

Supervision and Consultation:

  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement
  • Actively works to enhance clinical and leadership skills

 

Clinical Record Keeping:

  • Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy
  • Documents appropriate, complete, and clinically comprehensive mental health assessments
  • Documents measurable and specific goals in the treatment plan
  • Documents in a clear and concise manner, types of patient problems, treatment goals addressed, services, and techniques used
  • Documents case disposition, case closings, follow-up and referrals

Courteous and respectful towards patients, visitors and co-workers

  • Treats patients with care, dignity and compassion
  • Respects patient’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Is pleasant and cooperative with others
  • Assists visitors and patients as needed
  • Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others
  • Is sensitive to patient’s needs, expectations and individual differences
  • Is gentle and calm with patients and families

Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:

  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities
  • Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Accesses appropriate community resources according to patient needs
  • Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures
  • Maintains current license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), if applicable, and attends regular workshops and in-services

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a mental health discipline with two years post master’s experience. Licensure preferred.

 

Knowledge in child/adolescent/young adult/adult competencies, outlined below and certification of In-Home services/Care Coordination training, Certified Peer Supervisor training and Therapeutic Mentor Supervisor training by Alabama State Department of Mental Health (ADMH).

  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the child/adolescent/young adult/adult populations
  • Knowledge of growth and development of child/adolescent/young adult/adult patients as related to intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of their development
  • Knowledge of available community resources
  • Knowledge of the nature of addiction for the treatment of patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity
  • Knowledge of family dynamics and parenting issues
  • Knowledge of the effects of physical/sexual/emotional abuse and neglect issues
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic patients, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practices
  • Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles
  • Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to children/adolescents/young adults with psychiatric disorders
  • Knowledge of ADMH standards
  • Knowledge/Training certification in CANS (Child and Adolescent Strengths Needs assessment tool)
