Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health, mental health or social services related discipline. Valid verifiable state-issued driver’s license. Certification of case management training by Alabama State Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.
Knowledge in adult specialties, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment:
- Knowledge of psychiatric and substance use disorders in adult populations and/or knowledge of addiction as a primary/secondary illness
- Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles
- Knowledge of cultural diversity
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions as well as non-violent crisis intervention practices common to acute psychotic patients, and/or patients with substance abuse issues
- Knowledge of educational methods appropriate for adults with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders
- Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding appropriate benefit entitlements such as social security, Medicaid, Medicare.
- Knowledge of utilizing electronic health records
- Knowledge of available community resources
- Knowledge of available referral sources for physical health, mental health, social services, and substance abuse treatment
- Knowledge of behavioral health and substance abuse screening tools
Training to be completed within 6 months of employment include but not limited to the following:
- Case Management training by the Alabama State Department of Mental Health
- SOAR training
- Medicaid Assistor Training
- Suicide Severity Rating
- DLA-20
- UNCOPE
- CLIA training for UDS
- Motivational Interviewing
- Trauma Informed Care
