Overview

The Talent Development Specialist advances our mission by developing the skills, knowledge, and engagement of our workforce. This position designs, facilitates, and administers learning and development programs that support clinical, operational, and leadership excellence across the health system.

The Specialist partners with leaders across primary care, behavioral health, and corporate services to identify learning needs, design and deliver effective training solutions, and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include creating instructor-led and virtual training, coordinating program logistics, overseeing the Learning Management System (LMS), and evaluating program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Requirements (to be obtained within six (6) months of employment)

  • Successful completion of instructor certifications as required by the organization.
  • Understanding of the health system’s accreditation, managed care, and regulatory compliance training standards.
  • Proficiency with the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Knowledge of learning science, instructional design methodologies, and best practices in talent development.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Learning Facilitation and Program Delivery
  • Deliver engaging and effective learning experiences for employees at all levels, across clinical and non-clinical functions, and to outside community organizations.
  • Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning sessions that align with organizational goals and learner needs.
  • Adapt delivery style and techniques to accommodate varying learning preferences, backgrounds, and roles. Manage disruptions professionally as needed.
  • Provide individual and group coaching to reinforce skills and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation, recertifications, skill and competency assessments, team and leadership development sessions, and other events. Utilize strong organizational skills to establish timelines, coordinate resources, communicate with participants and revise course content.
  • Ensure learning programs align with the health system’s mission, values, and compliance standards.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and growth for employees and other trainers.
  1. Program Design and Content Development
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and leaders to design, develop, and update learning content that addresses performance gaps and organizational priorities.
  • Create training materials, e-learning modules, and job aids using modern instructional design principles and tools.
  • Evaluate training outcomes through assessments, surveys, and performance metrics; analyze data to recommend improvements.
  • Assist with learning content development, defining learning objectives, and researching and testing courses and presentations
  1. Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
  • Manage LMS functionality, including user setup, course assignments, tracking completions, and reporting for all LMS users.
    • Ensure training records, certifications, and compliance data are accurate and up to date.
    • Troubleshoot LMS issues, such as auto enrollments, and provide user support to employees and leaders.
    • Generate and analyze reports to support compliance audits, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
    • Update systems for transfers, rehires, terminations, and closed accounts.
  • Consult with vendors and IT department to solve problems and resolve issues
  1. Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all training programs meet internal policy and external regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, Department of Mental Health, DEA, DHR, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to support accreditation and licensing audits.
  • Partner with Compliance, HR, and departmental leaders to monitor and address required education metrics.
  • Maintain required instructor certifications and ensure all personal training credentials remain active and valid.
  • Records: Complete scanning, filing, data entry, etc. as needed to maintain accurate training records; Regularly review records for missing or out-of-date information; Assist in obtaining missing information; Add records to files as received.
  • Ensure that all areas are clean, organized, properly stocked, and comfortable for employees
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner following policies and procedures
  • Complete other administrative responsibilities and projects as needed
  1. Collaboration, Consultation, and Professional Development
  • Partner with leaders, clinicians, and HR teams to assess learning needs and recommend development strategies.
  • Seek and apply supervision and feedback to continuously enhance skills and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices in healthcare education and workforce development to enhance skills.
  • Actively participate in committees, workgroups, and organizational initiatives related to talent and workforce development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with colleagues, employees, and community partners.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, behavioral health, or equivalent experience.

 

Skills & Abilities:

    • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse learners and collaborate across departments.
    • Proficiency in delivering training using multiple platforms (in-person, virtual, e-learning, blended).
    • Strong project management and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and learning technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience facilitating learning in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and change management.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform the physical activities associated with education and training (provided in interview)
