Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions:

 

 

    1. General Responsibilities:

 

  1. Greets all patients in a professional and welcoming manner
  2. Assists with the completion of the assessment process of patients including but not limited to the following: height/weight, vital signs, and current medications for infoscriber.
  3. Administers injections, observing the Six Rights of medication administration
  4. Communicates effectively with the physician/CRNP regarding the consumer’s physical and mental condition
  5. Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary team
  6. Reports laboratory results to the physician/CRNP
  7. Responds to patient phone calls in a timely and appropriate manner
  8. Calls in prescriptions as directed by authorized prescribers
  9. Facilitate PA’s for prescriptions
  10. Updates patient medical records as needed
  11. Assists in arranging hospital admissions and laboratory services
  12. May assist collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  13. May assist instructing patients about medication and special diets
  14. Authorizes prescription refills as directed
  15. Provides emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, etc.), according to the AltaPointe Policy & Procedures
  16. Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation
  17. Effectively demonstrates the application of MA competencies
  18. Ensures all releases are obtained and scanned into P.O.S. timely and accurately.
  19. Accurately populates all fields as related to the admission process in the Avatar system as related to the patient’s insurance and guarantor rankings.
  20. Researches all patients that present with no insurance through Medicaid and Medicare eligibility sites.
  21. Verifies all insurance eligibility and enters accurate information into Avatar.
  22. Accurately collects “out-of-pocket” costs (i.e. co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance).
  23. Balances out cash box/drawer accurately (daily) and prepares deposit.
  24. Makes copies, faxes documents and performs other related clerical duties as needed.
  25. Adheres to professional code of ethics and to all 5 Star Customer Service Guidelines when dealing with Practice Manager, CRNP/Physician, Team Leader, co-workers and patients

 

 

     2. Additional job duties depending on location may be as follows:

  1. Distributes prescriptions from the doctor/CRNP/PA to the consumer.
  2. Assists with the patient assistance pharmacy forms as needed, which includes communicating with the consumer regarding proof of income.
  3. Completes admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
  4. Coordinates appropriate services for consumers in crisis.
  5. Distributes Daily DSR reports.
  6. Performs relief for other staff members.
  7. Assists with and works with all organization personnel involved with any aspect of release of protected health information to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the organization’s policies and procedures and legal requirements

 

3. Supervision and Consultation:

  3. Actively works to enhance clinical skills

 

  1. Clinical Record Keeping:
  1. Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy
  2. Documentation shows that forms, notes, logs, and other applicable written information are completed promptly, accurately and updated when appropriate
  3. Documents legibly

    2. Respects consumer’s privacy and confidentiality

  1. Administrative and Other related duties as Assigned:
  1. Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities
  2. Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required
  3. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
  4. Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs
  5. Follows AltaPointe Policy & Procedures
  6. Maintains current State license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), and attends to required in-services and workshops
  7. Other duties as assigned

 

 Physical Requirements of the Job: 

  • There is frequent standing while getting files, paperwork, and handing out medication.
  • Sitting is frequent by nature and up to 5-10 minutes; however, extended sitting could be up to 1.5 to 3 hours for documentation.
  • Squatting and/or lunging frequently to stock supplies and retrieve needed material from file cabinets and book shelves.
  • Fine manipulation for writing, handling paperwork, and dispensing medications to consumers.
  • Pushing and/or pulling force up to 1-5 pounds force, horizontally, to open file cabinets and place binders on book shelves.
  • Lifting various ranges from the floor to overhead with weights up to 1-5 pounds frequently.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Possesses current certification for a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or equivalent and previous medical/health front desk experience preferred; Must be able to stand for long periods of time, continuously bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and lift at least 10 pounds. Must have visual acuity in at least one eye and manual dexterity; Must have the ability to communicate verbally, withstand continual deadlines, concentrate and maintain accuracy in spite of frequent interruptions. Knowledge in topics, outlined below, to be attained within (6) six months of employment:

 

  • General knowledge of nursing care
  • General knowledge of psychiatric disorders
  • Knowledge of medical terminology especially those terms associated with psychiatric care
  • Familiarity of psychopharmacology
  • Demonstration of safe medication administration practices including IM injection
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention
  • Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care Principles
  • Basic clerical skills
  • Use of standard office equipment including computers, photocopy and facsimile machines.
