Overview

Adult Outpatient Programs provide the least restrictive level of care where adults may receive clinical interventions aimed at decreasing existing signs and symptoms. Outpatient treatment focuses on recovery, problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization and/or prevention of movement to a higher level of care. Treatment varies widely and depends upon the consumer’s presenting symptoms.

Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions:

Supervises Operations:

  • Ensures that all aspects of programs under direct and indirect supervision are conducted in accordance with State, Medicaid, Joint Commission, Medicare, and all other standards associated with the organization.
  • Directs and organizes program activities
  • Supervises the Nurse Manager  ensuring  appropriate adherence  to standards regarding medications and documentation
  • Supervises and ensures that the outpatient therapists are adhering to standards
  • Writes program narratives, contracts, procedures and grants in a timely manner, as applicable
  • Establishes program goals and objectives that support the organization’s strategic plan
  • Assures that program standards and objectives are met
  • Leads the program planning, development and implementation
  • Identifies problems, evaluates alternatives and implements effective solutions
  • Promotes 5 Star program
  • Monitors program budgets
  • Ensures programs are running efficiently and communicates information to staff regarding policies, procedures, and changes within the company and governing agencies
  • Monitors case loads of staff to ensure appropriateness and timeliness of closures if appropriate
  • Monitors productivity of staff and ensures all meet required productivity standards and/or are meeting no less than  85% of the requirement on a regular basis
  • Ensures that  quality services are provided that meet medical necessity
  • Provides trainings and education for staff to ensure competency in treatment
  • Regularly monitors the documentation of staff to ensure adherence to all governing standards of the organization by completing audits of at least 1 charts per staff member per month; follows up to ensure corrections are completed
  • Ensures that staffing list is compiled and distributed weekly for the ZOP/ARS staffing
  • Attends weekly ARS transition meeting and distributes information to staff
  • Conducts staffing’s as needed; interacts with staff frequently
  • Ensures documentation in all programs is submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with standards
  • Monitors treatment plan review reports (Medicaid and Day Treatment-for therapists under direct supervision) and completes reviews in a timely manner; provides justification for any overdue reviews; follows up to make sure that reviews assigned to other practitioners, if applicable, are being completed and informs direct supervisor of deficiencies
  • Approves Treatment plans for therapists
  • Provides staff coverage for crisis intervention, demonstrates ability to recognize and deescalate crisis and provide intervention in absence of available staff.
  • Effectively collaborates with other Alta Pointe program coordinators and outside sources, adheres to transfer policy/protocol.
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of adult specific competencies

 

 

Administers appropriate personnel functions:

  • Interviews and screens applicants when necessary and completes appropriate forms as outlined by Personnel Policy and Procedures
  • Provides training in the general orientation of the facility, policies and procedures, program operations and specific skill areas
  • Completes API daily
  • Verifies mileage reimbursements are valid and supporting documentation present
  • Is knowledgeable and applies personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis
  • Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on supervised staff and routes to Personnel Department on a timely basis
  • Completes entries into Performance Improvement regarding provision of supervision
  • Competes entries into Halogen as appropriate for all staff
  • Promotes concept of treatment teams. Acts as a member of the treatment team
  • Provides positive and effective leadership
  • Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed, individually or through group staff meetings
  • Ensures competence of staff
  • Monitors staff work activities to ensure that they are performing all duties as assigned.

Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:

  • Ensure the outpatient office building is maintained professionally
  • Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities
  • Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs
  • Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures
  • Maintains current license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), if applicable, and attends regular workshops and in-services
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a mental health discipline with at least two years post-Master’s experience.

Must have Licensure in State of Alabama (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
