AltaPointe offers two residential programs that provide youth aged 16 to 22 with the opportunity to make successful transitions into adulthood. The programs help these young people achieve their full potential by reaching employment, educational, living situation, money management and community life goals. Youth who participate in the programs receive shelter, skills training and support services that assist with the smooth transition to self-sufficiency, which results in the avoidance of long-term dependency of these youth on social services. Staffing patterns at both residential homes include a therapist, case manager, nurse, residential manager and 24-hour behavioral staff.


Training Responsibilities

  1. Provides training and education to all AltaPointe staff and other community agencies using Relias Learning and includes MindSet, CPR, First Aid, and other core classes deemed necessary by AltaPointe. 
  2. Serve as a Proctor to provide focused training based on needs identified by AltaPointe programs’ supervisors/leaders.
  3. Coordinates new hire orientation and re-certification training and education calendar with the HR department
  4. Works cooperatively with other training staff to ensure a consistent comprehensive training program for AltaPointe staff
  5. Adheres to training compliance with the AltaPointe policies and procedures and all accrediting and licensing entities (i.e. DMH/ID, The Joint Commission, DHR, etc.)
  6. Utilize electronic database for education and training activities
  7. Maintains accurate records of education and training attended by each employee utilizing API/EdTrack and Relias Learning to monitor staff education transactions
  8. Effectively demonstrates the application of education and training competencies outlined above
  9. Maintain appropriate certifications to conduct training and education.

Transitional Age Group Home Services

  1. Conducts assessments/screenings for potential placements
  2. Completes synopses for admission when applicable
  3. Consults with residential management team as needed
  4. Represents Trans-Age services with outside agencies
  5. Assists with DHR licensure/certification processes
  6. Maintains records according to DHR guidelines (Form 808)

Performance Improvement Initiatives

  1. Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities
  2. Effectively collaborates with individual program supervisors on training issues and the improvement of consumer care
  3. Effectively collects and reports monthly employee training data to evaluate performance indicators


Master’s degree in a mental health discipline; with experience in outpatient and Trans-Age Residential programming; knowledge in educational and training issues, outlined below:

  • Knowledge of Alabama Department of Mental Health, Medicaid, and Joint Commission standards
  • Knowledge of principles of Trauma Informed Care
  • Knowledge of growth and development of child/adolescent consumers as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of their development resources
  • Knowledge of family dynamic and parenting issues
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practice
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of educational methods
  • Knowledge of evidence based treatment practices and the ability to shape treatment delivery to conform to this research
  • Knowledge of Nurse Delegation Program
  • Certification as CANS Super-User
  • Knowledge of Performance Improvement and Documentation standards
  • Knowledge of Consumer Rights and Therapeutic Boundaries
  • Knowledge of Cultural Diversity
  • Knowledge of Psychiatric Disorders in the adult and child population
  • Knowledge of Team Building concepts
  • Knowledge of Investigation of Special Incidents
