  • Responsibilities

     

    • Maintains an active role as program leader, develops and maintains activity/class calendar and assigns staff appropriately, conducts staffing
    • Responsible for daily operations of the Day Treatment program
    • Adheres to all standards relative to the program
    • Assesses, screens, and reviews appropriateness of all consumers enrolled in the program
    • Completes Extension of Stay notes as needed
    • Maintains accurate enrollment of all consumers in the program
    • Reviews and reconciles all weekly day treatment notes in a timely and accurate manner
    • Provides training for all behavioral staff in all Adult Intensive Day Treatment programs in the AltaPointe continuum-ensuring staff competency in teaching and working with consumers with a serious mental illness
    • Provides supervisor with proof of trainings provided to the behavioral staff along with signatures of staff in attendance
    • Maintains a record of all trainings provided, dates, times, attendance
    • Provides effective clinical assessment of the consumer
    • Utilizes assessment data to support a DSM V diagnosis
    • Formulates a person centered, recovery oriented, medically appropriate treatment plan along with consumer that proves medical necessity and obtains signatures each time the plan is created, updated and/or revised
    • Completes DLA-20 upon admission and every 90 days thereafter while in the program and upon discharge from the program
    • Provides individual, group and family therapy, utilizing basic therapeutic models and theories according to consumer needs as stated in the treatment plan
    • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation
    • Effectively collaborates with the treatment team members and outside sources in the delivery of clinical services
    • Seeks referrals and actively work to increase the census of the program
    • Evaluates the consumer for discharge planning
    • Links consumer with appropriate program upon discharge from Intensive Day Treatment and follows up to ensure appropriate hand off of care
    • Effectively demonstrates the application of adult specific competnecies
    • Adheres to professional code of ethics
    • Assists supervisors with interviews when necessary and completes appropriate forms as outlined by Personnel Policy and Procedures
    • Provides training in the general orientation of the facility, policies and procedures, program operations and specific skill areas
    • Is knowledgeable and applies personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis
    • Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on supervised staff and routes to Personnel Department on a timely basis
    • Provides positive and effective leadership
    • Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed, individually or through group staff meetings
    • Ensures competence of staff
    • Monitors staff work activities to ensure that they are performing all duties as assigned
    • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
    • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
    • Actively works to enhance clinical skills.
    • Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
    • Documents appropriate, complete, and clinically comprehensive mental health assessments
    • Documents measurable and specific problems, goals, and objectives in the treatment plan
    • Documents in a clear and concise manner, types of consumer problems, treatment goals and objectives addressed, services, and techniques used, consumer response and progress and plan for continued services
    • Documents case disposition, case closings, follow-up and referrals
    • Documents legibly and provides credentials with each signature
    • Effectively manages caseload based on consumer needs
    • Meets AltaPointe productivity standard
    • Treats consumers with care, dignity and compassion.
    • Respects consumer’s privacy and confidentiality.
    • Is pleasant and cooperative with others.
    • Assists consumers and visitors as needed.
    • Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others.
    • Is sensitive to the consumer’s needs, expectations and individual differences.
    • Is gentle and calm to consumers and families.

    • Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required.

    • Accesses appropriate community resources according to consumer needs.
    • Complies with AltaPointe policies & procedures.
    • Maintains current State license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), and attends to required in-services and workshops.

     

    Physical Requirements of the Job:

    • There is frequent standing while getting files, paperwork, and handing out medication.
    • Sitting is frequent by nature and up to 5-10 minutes; however, extended sitting could be up to 1.5 to 3 hours for documentation.
    • Squatting and/or lunging frequently to stock supplies and retrieve needed material from file cabinets and book shelves.
    • Fine manipulation for writing, handling paperwork, and dispensing medications to consumers.
    • Pushing and/or pulling force up to 1-5 pounds force, horizontally, to open file cabinets and place binders on book shelves.
    • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

     

    Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.

    Knowledge in adult specialty, outlined below, to be attained within (6) six months of employment:

    • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population

    • Basic knowledge of the nature of addiction for referral purposes

    • Basic knowledge of Senior Adult issues for referral purposes

    • Knowledge of cultural diversity

    • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practice

    • Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to adults and senior adults with psychiatric disorders

    • Knowledge of psychiatric rehab principles
