AltaPointe provides homes to approximately 50 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.  Our six group homes in West Mobile and Semmes offer a safe, supportive community atmosphere with various levels of independence.  These programs work in conjunction with Day Programs, Supportive Employment, Recreation, and Family Support to provide a comprehensive continuum of high-quality care and services.

  EastPointe Hospital is a private, free-standing psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescent males (ages 12 – 18) located in Daphne, Ala. EastPointe’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults and adolescents in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults and/or adolescents admitted to EastPointe will have exhibited life-threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24-hour clinical care for the duration of their stay. The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.

AltaPointe’s Adult Residential Services are designed for consumers with serious and persistent mental illness who require social rehabilitation and community support. Combining medical, nursing and clinical services, our staff provides care and treatment for more than 200 adults in need of intensive service provision. The Adult Residential Services Program consists of group homes, which are supervised 24 hours/day when consumers are on the premises.  Expected outcomes are the same for each adult group home: to prevent re-hospitalization and to maximize and maintain successful community placement. Residential care focuses on the rehabilitation and return to the community of seriously mentally ill consumers.

The Assertive Community Treatment Team serves individuals that find it difficult to come to an AltaPointe facility for desperately needed treatment. These patients usually have been hospitalized multiple times, have a limited or no support system, inadequate basic living skills and persistent difficulty in illness and medication management. Other complicating factors may involve substance abuse problems and legal issues or other stresses that significantly impair their ability to maintain mental stability. These patients need intensive support from our ACT Team. Children's Outpatient Services provides treatment for children and adolescents and their families and is intended to improve and maintain a child’s or an adolescent’s stability in the community. Treatment focuses on problem resolution, symptom reduction, stabilization and/or prevention of movement to a higher level of care. Services include individual, family and group therapy, medication evaluation and management, case management, in home intervention, case consultation and summer day treatment services. The type of treatment is highly variable and depends upon the individual’s existing symptoms and developmental level.

The West Mobile Academy is a classroom and day treatment program, housed at BayPointe Hospital, developed to meet the educational and therapeutic needs of severely emotionally disturbed students K-12 who are unable to maintain appropriate behaviors in a Mobile County Public School setting.  A child/adolescent must manifest a combination of at least three criteria whose severity could prevent treatment in a less restrictive environment.
